NOTICE: As of Feb. 6, the Land Bank is unable to accept new applications for the Side Lot Program. For questions regarding the acquisition of vacant property or to be added to our waiting list, contact Gary Davenport at (330) 259-1040 and select option 1. We expect to resume accepting Side Lot applications before the end of 2017.
Mahoning County Land Reutilization Corp., otherwise known as Mahoning County Land Bank, is a nonprofit community improvement corporation. Our mission is to acquire vacant, abandoned, tax-delinquent properties and make them productive again. Through its Side Lot Program, Mahoning County Land Bank offers empty lots to adjoining property owners. Buyers obtain clear title to the land, not the debts and liens that may have accumulated under the previous owners.
The Land Bank also demolishes many dilapidated houses in pursuit of its mission. See our map of the locations where demolitions have been completed in 2015-16 – or are scheduled – here. Read more about our demolition work here.
Vacant land acquisition and housing demolition is just the start of Mahoning County Land Bank’s activities. The Land Bank strategically acquires abandoned homes that can be renovated and occupied before demolition is the only remaining option. It collaborates with civic, religious and nonprofit organizations that want to create new green spaces and plant community gardens. It assists local governments in assembling land for future projects.
We invite you to learn more about our activities and tell us how we can assist you.
